A motorcycle accident turned fatal when a young woman from Canada lost her life.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2005 Toyota vehicle driven by Savannah Rose Pompeo, 16, struck the motorcycle driven by Jeremy Parrott, 61, and carrying Crystal-Jean Parrott, 24, both of Ontario. Although Pompeo was travelling northbound on U.S. 27, her vehicle crossed over the westbound lanes, striking the Parrotts who were travelling westbound.
Another vehicle, driven by 38-year-old Tanya Michelle Mercer, attempted to steer away from the motorcycle accident, only to run over Crystal-Jean by accident. A fourth vehicle hit the motorcycle and flipped four times before coming to rest on its roof. Several of the involved persons were brought to Shands at the University of Florida in either critical or serious condition.
