Student in Critical Condition After Auto Accident

An auto accident in Jacksonville left a college student in critical condition and a woman behind bars for leaving the scene of the accident.

Police reports show that Latoysha Blankenship, 33, accidentally drove her car in front of Yvonne Roberts, 18, who was riding her motorcycle on Lem Turner Road. The young girl had just left a class at Florida State College at Jacksonville and was heading home. To make matters worse, Blankenship panicked and left the scene of the accident, leaving Roberts laying on the ground injured.

Luckily a witness was able to take down the make and license plate number of Blankenship's car before she sped away. Police later located the vehicle in the parking lot of 5517 Playa Way and found her inside an apartment at that location. She was immediately taken into custody and charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injuries.

Roberts is currently being treated at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center for life-threatening injuries.
