Two Toddlers Drown in Florida Swimming Pools

Whenever toddlers are allowed near a swimming pool, it is essential that they are supervised and cared for. As well, it is very important that they wear flotation devices near the pool, and that any swimming pools in back yards are guarded by a fence so that small children cannot wander into the water before they know how to swim. While some may think that too many precautions are overkill, an incident in Tamarac says otherwise. According to a local news source, two young toddlers accidentally drowned in swimming pools over the first weekend of September.

One of the victims was a 2-year-old named Jayden who was found unresponsive in her family’s pool in Homosassa. The family members last law the girl watching TV, and did not know that she had wandered out into the backyard. They performed CPR upon finding her body, but were not able to save the young child. She was pronounced dead when her family arrived at the hospital. The other child was involved in a similar instance. When unsupervised, the child wandered towards the pool and fell in, unable to swim. This young one also drowned in the water and was declared dead.

Local Florida police say that in Broward County, the number one cause of death for children between the ages of 1 and 4 is drowning. If your child was at a friend’s house and drowned in their pool, or was being supervised by a caretaker who failed to take note that your beloved child fell into the pool, then you have the right to sue. If you have a pool at your home, it is suggested that you fence it in and never allow your child near the water unattended until he or she is an accomplished swimmer and old enough to be reliable.
