Energy Drink Makers Accused of Wrongful Death

The makers of Four Loko are facing a string of lawsuits for their caffeinated alcohol beverage that has been linked to multiple deaths.

One lawsuit has been filed by the parents of a 15-year-old boy who lost his life after drinking Four Loko. The teen, John Donald Rupp III, was at a concert the night he drank two cans of Four Loko. After he finished the second can, Rupp began to act erratic, causing concert security staff to call his parents. They picked him up and brought him home; when he got out of the car, however, he ran out into a busy street unexpectedly and was struck by a passing car.

Just two months after this wrongful death lawsuit was filed, the FDA released its year-long study on Four Loko and other alcoholic energy drinks. While it did not ban the drinks outright, it did send warning letters to all manufacturers of similar drinks, a move that is believed will eventually shut down the production of all alcohol energy drinks.

If you're planning to partake in a wrongful death action, it is important that you hire a Broward County personal injury lawyer before taking legal steps.  Contact our law office now!
