Boat Accident Case Makes Its Way to Court

A fatal boating accident that occurred back in 2010 will now see its day in court in Cape Coral.

According to the State Attorney's Office Jason Williams, 37, has been charged with one count of Boating Under the Influence Manslaughter, one count of BUI with Damage and one count of BUI Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. This all came after Williams turned himself into the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission last Tuesday.

Investigators into the boat accident believe that he was intoxicated when he slammed his boat into a seawall, killing one of his passengers, 35-year-old Jason Baldner of Wisconsin. Witnesses report the boat going airborne after it hit the wall and landing on the shore beyond. Residents in that area say that the crash happened in a no-wake zone.

The other passenger, 31-year-old Eric Terpsma, was uninjured in the crash, along with Williams.
