Motorcyle Accident Claims Life

A motorcycle accident in Daytona Beach last weekend took the life of 56-year-old William Lee Hughes.

According to Sgt. Kim Montes, Hughes was traveling northbound on Tomoka Farms Road when he was struck by another vehicle. The car, driven by 31-year-old Lakecia S. Harris, went through a red light at the International Speedway Boulevard, and hit the left-front fender. Although alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this motorcycle accident, Harris is expected to be charged soon by local authorities.

As a result of the accident, the boulevard was closed most of Sunday afternoon. Traffic was detoured from the International Speedway Boulevard back onto Tomoka Farms Road by Daytona Beach Police.
