Jetskis Collide on Oneida Lake
When two jetskis crashed into each other on Oneida Lake, one man was seriously injured.
The victim, 16-year-old Michael J. Betro, was riding his 2003 Kawasaki Jet Ski heading south when he was struck by a jet ski driven by Zachary J. Mahassine, 22. When the accident was called in to 911, several agencies responded to the scene of the accident, including Vineall Ambulance, the North Bay Fire Department, Sylvan Beach Fire Department and the Oneida County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol Unit.
Mahassine's injuries were addressed and he was then transported to hospital in Syracuse. He was later treated for injuries to his chin, neck and right arm. At this time no tickets have been given to either party, although the jetski accident is still under investigation by the Marine Patrol Unit.
