Woman in Manatee Charged Following hit and Run Accident

In Manatee, a woman who has been charged in the death of a high school student to a hit-and-run accident was released from jail this week after she posted a bond of $15,000.

A 50-year-old Kim Marie Leto has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving death as well as leaving the scene of an injury accident.

15-year-old Brendan Edward Barnes was tragically killed when he and his friend were hit by a car while walking west inside of a bike lane said the Florida Highway Patrol.

His friend, 16-year-old Samuel E. Garvin sustained a broken leg and injured foot and managed to drag himself off of the road after being hit by the car.  He said that he was afraid he would be hit again by oncoming traffic.
