DUI Offender Facing Manslaughter Charges after Car Crash

The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting that a St. Augustine man was booked at St. Johns County jail and is facing charges of DUI manslaughter for a New Year's Eve car accident.  Kenneth Mahr, 41, recorded a blood alcohol content level of .206 on the night of the car accident.

Mahr was driving on State Road 207 when his car drifted off of the left lan and then overturned after leaving the paved surface.  The passenger in Mahr vehicle, Brian C. Stewart, was thrown from the car as the vehicle turned over.  Emergency personel pronounced Stewart dead at the scene. Police report that Mahr, who wasn't wearing a seatbelt during the crash, suffered series injures.

In addition to the DUI manslaughter charges, the Florida Highway Patrol report that Mahr also faces a charge of DUI causing serious bodily in jury
