Fatal Accident Occurs on U.S. 301

A fatal accident on U.S. 301 and County Road 218 in Clay County took one man's life and injured several more. When James R. Neary, 41, failed to stop for a red light he hit the back of a semi-truck that was pulling a trailer. While Neary was pronounced dead by responding officers, another passenger, Carl Travis Hudnall, 34, was injured and two more were flown to Shands Hospital in Jacksonville. One was in serious condition and the other supposedly was in critical condition.

Police from Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene early Saturday morning, led by Lt. Bill Leeper.
