Babysitter Charged with Injuring Child

In Arlington, Texas, it is reported that a babysitter that had dropped an 18 month old child off at a fire station is in jail.  Police say that 28 year old Imelda Lazo left the child at the fire station with serious head injuries.

Lazo took the boy to Fire Station 6 on South Collin Street during afternoon hours.  An Arlington police spokesman, Sgt. Dace Clifton said, "The first responders there determined that the child needed to be CareFlited to an area hospital because of the injuries."

Police would not reveal the identity of the toddler, but did say that he was taken to Cook Children's Medical Center on Fort Worth.  There, he went through surgery and is currently listed as being in critical condition.

Both the parents and Child Protective Services have been notified by authorities.

Currently, Lazo is being held in Arlington City Jail on charges of injury to a child causing serious bodily harm.  Her bail amount was set at $100,000.
